IWMT 2015: Meet Kirsty from Protexin - another super IWMT sponsor

 Meet Kirsty Holmes, South East Territory Manager for Protexin Equine Premium, one of our fabulous sponsors supporting this year's Ian White Memorial Trophy at Smiths Lawn Horse Trials in August. It is thanks to our good friend, Anna Flynn that Protexin got involved in the trophy a couple of years ago. When Anna left for pastures new, she handed over to Kirsty, who tells us a bit more about herself and what she gets up  to behind the scenes. Kirsty has worked for Protexin since August 2014.

Tell us about your riding interests

I own 3 horses, all warmbloods, and compete in dressage, showjumping and eventing when there’s time. My background in horses started with ponies and working on yards for riding schools and livery businesses. I became yard manager for an international show jumper before leaving to start a career in sales for the retail sector.

Who are Protexin and what do they do?

Protexin are a company specialising in products to help gut-related issues from people to cats, dogs, horses and even cows. Their mission is to improve the health of our target customers by educating people about the importance of probiotics for everyday health.

Their equine product range is small and based largely on our Protexin probiotic - horses rely on a bacterial population in their gut to help them digest fibre. However, some horses are prone to having a low population of these bacteria, which can lead to serious health or behavioural  problems. 

Why did Protexin get involved in IWMT?

We enjoy supporting shows like Smiths Lawn Horse Trials and their organisers who put so much effort into making sure the event is a success. It's also a great way for us to reach our customers and raise brand awareness. As a competitor myself, I know how lovely it is when you receive a goody bag if you're placed and its brilliant to see riders' faces when they receive their prizes.
